Tintsaba, meaning “mountains” in the local Swazi dialect, was founded by Sheila Freemantle in 1985 with only 12 local women. The vision was to empower women through training in production techniques, health education, committee structure, literacy and business English. More than 700 rural Swazi women have benefitted from this training learning to become master weavers or managers.

Swazi baskets are well-known for their high-quality, colorful designs, that are exported around the world. Your purchase helps women lift themselves and their families out of poverty by building their skills, literacy, health, independence, and become role models for others in their community to build a promising future.
